CCMP has always taken an internationalist perspective on healthcare, understanding that to achieve comprehensive healthcare for workers in the U.S. requires uniting with the healthcare aspirations of low-income workers in all countries. Many New York doctors and frontline healthcare workers originate from the Caribbean and Latin America, where large quantities of healthcare supplies are manufactured.

CCMP’s solidarity work has included shipping donated medical supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE) and other needed resources in times of disaster. It has included attending conferences to share updates on the struggle for comprehensive healthcare in the New York metro area and throughout the U.S. It has also included meetings aimed at finding ways to develop and expand international collaboration in healthcare.

CCMP maintains a strong relationship with many organizations of Caribbean healthcare workers in the U.S., including nurses’ associations representing nurses from Barbados, Guyana, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and Trinidad & Tobago among others.

This international solidarity is not charity, but a demonstration of what working people can accomplish when we work together.
